Motorising Set for Corgi Feltham Tramcar in OO Gauge

Corgi have produced a beautiful diecast end-door Feltham tram model in OO gauge 1:76 scale in their Original Omnibus Company series of models. The first production model OM40501 Feltham Tram in London Transport livery was released in January 2002 and further liveries, such as Leeds City Transport, Metropolitan Electric Tramways and London United Tramways are available.

BEC-KITS have produced a specially adapted Motorising set for the Corgi Feltham tram which provides a simple method of motorising the tram for running on standard model railway track, such as that made by PECO.

The set contains 2 motorised ready-to-run maximum traction bogie units in 16.5mm OO gauge, wired for 2-rail pickup, with special bolsters and illustrated instructions on how to fit them into your Corgi end-door Feltham.

• The bogies trucks are supplied with 9mm wheels for the driven axle and the trailing axle has 7mm wheels.
• Both of the bogie trucks have a single axle drive as in the prototype.
• The bogies are supplied with specially shaped, cast whitemetal bogie bolsters for easy fitting to the black plastic tram chassis pan.
• The bogie trucks are fitted with press studs for pivoting to the bogie bolsters.
• A 2-wire link between the two bogies provides an electrical connection for smoother running. It incorporates a 2-pin plug and socket so that the bogies can be separated, for fitting them into the chassis and for servicing.
• The motorising set contains an illustrated instruction sheet, which explains how to dismantle the model and which parts need modification to fit the motorised bogies.
• Using this motorising set, the Feltham tram should run round a continuous 4 inch radius curve.

This photograph shows the motorising set fitted into the black plastic chassis pan of the Corgi London Transport Feltham tram and also fitted with the black plastic truck sideframes taken from the Corgi Feltham tram. The brown plastic seating unit inside the Feltham has been cut down to leave just the two end platforms and staircases.
